A new Nintendo Direct is coming May 15th featuring Super Mario Maker 2

It's time for a closer look at Nintendo's upcoming game maker!
Super Mario Maker 2 Direct

Nintendo has announced a Direct for tomorrow, May 15th, which is set to focus on Super Mario Maker 2. Airing at 3 PM PDT / 6 PM EDT / 11 PM BST the upcoming Direct is expected to last around 15 minutes.

The follow-up entry in the Mario Maker series has been shown so far to include some wished-for design features missing from the first game like slopes, and previous announcements have hinted at the existence of a multiplayer mode.

Tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct comes after a long drought, as the previous presentation was the Pokémon Direct back in February. Nintendo has already announced another Direct that will air during E3, which is expected to give us more information on pending releases for Switch in 2019 such as Animal Crossing and Luigi’s Mansion 2.

Super Mario Maker 2 is the sequel to 2015’s Super Mario Maker, released on the Wii U. The game was well received critically and managed to sell 4 million copies worldwide in spite of the console’s notoriously small installation base. The first entry was later ported to the 3DS, where it sold an additional 2 million copies and Nintendo has reported over 7 million courses made worldwide.

Super Mario Maker 2 is scheduled for worldwide release on June 28th so tomorrow’s Direct should give us more detail on just what is possible in the new game.
