Tetris 99, the new Tetris meets Battle Royale phenomenon for Nintendo Switch Online members, will be hosting its first tournament! From March 8 at 5:00 am PT to March 10 at 11:59 pm PT, Tetris 99 players will have the chance to compete in the Maximus Cup (or Tetris 99 Grand Prix as it is being dubbed by Nintendo UK).
This tournament encourages players to rack up as many wins as they can, and when you see TETRIS MAXIMUS on your results screen, you know that specific win counts towards your record during the tournament’s time-frame. The top 999 players will be contacted and rewarded with 999 Nintendo Gold Points, which can be redeemed for $9.99 / £9.99 / €9,99 on the Nintendo eShop.
Tetris 99 has been a hit for Nintendo’s newest platform since its launch on February 13 of this year, as it combines a gaming classic, Tetris, and the basic elements of the popular Battle Royale genre. Face off against 98 other players, complete lines like traditional Tetris, and send your garbage blocks to the opposing players to knock them out!
