Northgard, the Viking strategy game from Shiro Games, will officially be heading to Nintendo Switch later this year. Previously a PC-only title, the Nintendo Switch release comes a part of a full console launch across PS4, Switch and Xbox One.

Rich with Norse mythology, Northgard tasks players with controlling a Viking clan as they settle on a mysterious continent. Keep your wits about you though, as their quest for glory will be riddled with deadly enemies and unforgiving lands. Players will need to manage the clan’s resources, trade their way to the top, and decide who (and what) will be friend or foe.

Northgard’s upcoming console release is set to include all the content from the original game and packs a whole heap of updates to boot. Content from the Relics and Ragnarok update will offer players a lengthy campaign, six clans, online and co-op modes, and an apocalyptic-themed ranked mode.

Developers Shiro Games have also reworked and revamped the game’s UI and controller mappings to “make playing feel effortless” across the console releases. The Nintendo Switch version was also specifically mentioned as being optimised for on the go play.

We are very happy to reveal we are bringing Northgard to all three consoles later this year. We have worked hard to optimizeĀ NorthgardĀ for the controller and to be played on the go in the Switch version. All the content of the original version will be available at launch. This includes the campaign mode, multiplayer, all six clans and much more!

Northgard will launch for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One later this year. No exact release date or pricing has been announced as of yet.
