Could JavaScript references indicate a Nintendo Switch release?

Update: The Nintendo Switch references appear to just be media checks for YouTube. It is extremely unlikely that they indicate anything substantial.

References to the Nintendo Switch have been found in the official Call of Duty website, mere hours ahead of the game’s expected reveal. Said to be called “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” (yes, again), the discovery is leading some to believe that a Nintendo Switch release may also be inbound.

Having already leaked artwork, shots, and dates via their official Call of Duty YouTube page, Activision is expected to reveal the upcoming Call of Duty title later today at 5pm GMT (May 30th 2019). Now, thanks to some lines of code found in one of their website’s JavaScript files, the rumour mill is churning once again… but this time among Nintendo Switch fans.

Found at around line 2535 of the Call of Duty website’s base.js file is a function that references both “nintendo switch” and “nx dock”. While the purpose of the function appears only to be a media check, used for adjusting the site to certain screen sizes, this hasn’t stopped fans speculating why it was even added in the first place. Especially so close to an upcoming game reveal.

Only time will tell if the Switch references mean anything more than a simple website media check, but luckily we shouldn’t have to wait too long to find out.
