Growtopia, the Ubisoft published free-to-play sandbox MMO, was rated for Nintendo Switch back in February 2019. It now appears that the game’s Nintendo Switch release has finally been confirmed via Nintendo of America’s website.

It’s been a strange journey to Growtopia’s Nintendo Switch release and things are about to get a little weirder. Although the MMO has been listed on Nintendo of America’s official website, the release date provided was… well… yesterday.

According to Nintendo’s product page, Growtopia was due to hit Nintendo Switch on March 28th 2019 and, at the time of writing, there have been no signs of a release on the eShop or even an announcement from Ubisoft. It’s currently unclear what’s happening behind the scenes, but players can most likely expect Growtopia to hit the hybrid console at some point during the next few weeks.

Growtopia was originally developed by Robinson Technologies and released for PC and mobile devices in 2013. Rights to the game were acquired by Ubisoft in February 2017. In addition to Nintendo Switch, Growtopia has also seen console rating submissions for PS4 and Xbox One. However, besides NoA’s product page, there has been no news on any console releases as of yet.

The current Nintendo Switch listing suggests that Growtopia will remain free-to-play once it finally launches, with the game’s page showing a $0.00 price-tag. As with most free-to-play titles on Switch, it’s expected that players will be able to play Growtopia without a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
