The Nintendo 3DS remake of Luigi’s Mansion received a definitive release date today. Launching on October 19th 2018, players will be able to return to the GameCube classic just before Halloween creeps in.
Luigi’s Mansion is an action-adventure game in which Luigi makes his way around a dark, haunted mansion; searching every nook and cranny for his brother Mario. Equipped with his trusty torch and vacuum cleaner, Luigi must hunt down ghosts and uncover the mansions secret’s. The 3DS version of the game also includes a new “Boss Rush” mode for players that want to try their hand at speed-running battles. Just like its sequel, the Luigi’s Mansion remake takes full advantage of the 3DS hardware and displays the map on the handheld’s touchscreen.
Luigi’s Mansion was first released in 2001 for the Nintendo GameCube, with the 3DS port marking the first time it’s ever been playable on another console. The game’s sequel “Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon” released on Nintendo 3DS back in March 2013.
The game’s Nintendo 3DS announcement was made during a Nintendo Direct on March 8th 2018 – which is available to watch below (starts at 4:50):
