Korean bullet-hell, Shikhondo: Soul Eater, comes to Switch next week

Indie publisher Digerati has announced that Shikhondo: Soul Eater, an extreme bullet-hell shoot ’em up, is coming to Nintendo Switch on August 30th 2018.

Shikhondo: Soul Eater features a distinctive art-style with five stages full of, “hypnotic barrage patterns, enemies inspired by Asian mythology, and stunning Oriental artwork.”

Shikhondo Soul Eater Physical Nintendo Switch BoxartIn addition to the Arcade, Hardcore and Boss-Rush modes found on the game’s Steam release, console players will be able to enjoy 2-player local co-op for the first time. The game’s story has players taking on armies of demons known as yokai who have escaped from Limbo to steal innocent people’s souls and inspire fear across the land.

A physical version of Shikhondo: Soul Eater is currently available to pre-order for $24.99 (standard edition) and a limited edition version with a game manual, soundtrack and a numbered certificate is available for $34.99. Both physical versions are Play-Asia exclusives.

Nintendo Switch owners who purchase a digital copy of the game through Nintendo’s eShop will be able to nab a 10% discount on launch day.

Shikhondo is the 5th game by from Korean indie developer DeerFarm. The game made a name for itself at the 2017 Global Indie Game Development Contest in Korea where it won the “Gold Award”.
