Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will launch for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and mobile devices on January 23rd 2020. The remastered classic was originally targeting a 2019 release window.
The game’s upcoming release date came as part of Square Enix’s Tokyo Game Show 2019 marketing strategy, with the initial launch date announcement made via a new TGS trailer (included below). However, that’s not all the team had to announce, as fans will also be able to play online together across different devices!
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition’s new online multi-play will officially support up to four players each playing on their system of choice. Thanks to cross-play, it won’t matter whether the game is running on PS4, Nintendo Switch, or a mobile device – players will simply be able to jump online and play together.
As seen in the previous trailer, the TGS 2019 version also re-confirmed that the upcoming remaster would also offer brand new character voice-acting and overall improvements to the game’s graphics and UI. Variant character skins and additional items have also been added to the game, along with some brand new dungeons and bosses to challenge returning players.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will officially launch for all platforms on January 23rd 2020. The game will be available in physical and digital formats for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, with Amazon US offering an email notification service for when pre-orders go live.
