If you’ve been waiting for news on Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon then look no further, as the Chocobo-centric RPG has finally been given a Japanese release date. Featuring a brand new gameplay system, the 2019 adaptation of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon will be hitting Japanese Switch and PS4 consoles on March 20th 2019.

Although there haven’t been any updates on the Western release of the game, besides “Winter 2018”, the news of a Japanese launch certainly paves the way for Western fans. If history repeats then hopefully everyone’s favourite flightless bird will have something to announce in the West over the next few weeks.

Pitched as an “RPG you can play countless times”, Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! sees players take on the role of a dungeon exploring Chocobo. The game’s buddy system allows all the monsters encounter to be befriended and even controlled by a second player in coop. Based on the 2007/2008 Final Fantasy Fables game of a similar name, the latest instalment of Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon will feature a number of visual updates and gameplay mechanics to entice players back into the series’ mysterious dungeons.

Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon: Every Buddy! is expected to release for Nintendo Switch on March 20th 2019 in Japan, with the Western version still pegged for “Winter 2018”. If you can’t wait to get your hands on the game then check out the official trailer below.
