Soon after the announcement, Nintendo’s YouTube channel posted a new trailer detailing the game’s story in which Kamek and Baby Bowser are out to steal a legendary gem-set stone capable of granting wishes to those who possess it.

Crafted World is being developed by Good-Feel, the same team behind both Yoshi’s Wooly World and its 3DS counterpart. After originally being revealed at E3 2017 as “Yoshi” with a 2018 release window, the game suffered a number of delays.

Though the gameplay we’ve seen in previews seems similar to past entries in the franchise, Crafted World sets itself apart by allowing players to “flip sides” to see the level from multiple angles and access new areas and collectables.

Nintendo Of America also confirmed the release date for another Good-Feel game, the 3DS port of the team’s 2010 platformer Kirby’s Epic Yarn. This news, along with a number of other high profile Nintendo announcements seems to, at least for now, put the rumours of a January Nintendo Direct to rest.

Yoshi’s Crafted World releases exclusively on Nintendo Switch March 29th, 2019.
