Wadjet Eye Games teases Nintendo Switch ports on Twitter

The Switch may be getting a library of point-and-click adventures.
Wadjet Eye Games Nintendo Switch Teaser

Wadjet Eye Games, the indie studio behind many point-and-click adventure games, released the teasiest of teases earlier on Twitter this week. The tweet in mention is of a Nintendo Switch dev kit displaying the studio’s logo. Fortunately, thanks to replies in the thread, we have a little more information to go off of.

For starters, it’s likely that the upcoming Switch game(s) are ports and not brand new title(s). When asked about whether porting games to Switch is easier than porting them to the PS4, Dave Gilbert (one of the main developers) stated that porting anything from PC is difficult. On the off chance that these are new games, we know that he is currently working on titles Nighthawks and a sequel to Technobabylon, so it is more likely that anything new would be either of these titles rather than a new project entirely.

On the topic of whether or not fans can expect a physical release, Gilbert replied saying that he was in talks with a company about sorting out a physical version after the digital version is working. Although a deal has not been settled yet, Gilbert sounds hopeful that something may happen in the future.

Speaking of the future, it may be a long time until we see any of Wadjet Eye’s games on Nintendo hardware. When trying to appease fans’ expectations, Gilbert mentions that the release of any of his games won’t be for a “looong while.”

Dave Gilbert’s latest game was a title called Unavowed. This 2018 release combined Wadjet Eye’s traditional point-and-click gameplay with their first original IP. Currently sitting at a very flattering 87 percent rating on Metacritic, we’d definitely be grateful if this is title being teased for Switch.
