Publisher PQube and developer Kadokawa Games have announced that Root Letter: Last Answer will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam later this year!
Being touted as an enhanced version of 2016’s Root Letter, this beautiful visual novel experience brings with it a brand new epilogue, gameplay / UI improvements, and a brand new live action mode – which gives players the ability to view scenes from the visual novel reenacted in live action!
In Root Letter: Last Answer, you play as a character with a penpal named “Aya Fumino”, whom you have not heard from or spoken to for over 15 years. Her last letter resurfaces, and within it is her confession to a murder. Set on a journey to Aya’s hometown where her friends, who may contain information on her disappearance, might not be so willing to let you in on the secrets and embark on an effort to find out the truth.
With the same stunning artwork from Minoboshi Taro and Takashi Nitta’s beautiful score, Root Letter: Last Answer is bound to be a welcome entry for new and old fans alike. Check out the announcement trailer below which shows off the game’s style and even offers a preview into the new live action mode! Root Letter: Last Answer is planned for release on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Steam later this year (2019).
