The Room, a physical puzzler and mystery game all rolled into one, will be released for Nintendo Switch on October 18th 2018. Developers Fireproof Games have partnered with Team17 to release the BAFTA Award-winning title, previously released on iOS, Android and PC, priced at $9.99/£6.99/€8.99.
The puzzle beings when you receive a mysterious invitation which leads you to the attic of an abandoned house. Inside is a cast-iron safe covered with strange carvings, and a further not telling you that inside is something ancient and astonishing. What could it be? You’ll have to start solving puzzles to find out.
Not just a simple port, The Room has been rebuilt from the ground up to make use of the Switch’s hardware. In TV mode, you can use the Joy-Con controllers to solve puzzles with motion controls, an experience unique to the Switch. Or if you prefer, you can play in handheld mode and use the intuitive touchscreen controls.
The Room was first released in September 2012 and climbed the charts to become the top-selling mobile game in over 60 countries. Since its release it has garnered critical acclaim, being named ‘iPad Game of the Year 2012’ and winning a BAFTA British Game award.
