Torchlight II heads to Nintendo Switch and other consoles in Autumn 2019

Panic Button brings us a Classic-styled ARPG on the go
Torchlight II 2 Nintendo Switch

Perfect World Entertainment and Panic Button are working together to bring an enhanced port of Runic Games’ award-winning Torchlight II to consoles – including Nintendo Switch – later in 2019.

Originally released for PC in 2012, Torchlight II is an ARPG dungeon crawler that harkens back to genre classics like Diablo II. Players can pick from four different classes: Engineer (Heavy Melee), Outlander (Ranged), Beserker (Light Melee) and the Embermage (Spellcaster) and experience each one’s unique playstyle.

Besides exploring randomised dungeons, crushing enemies and collecting loot, Torchlight II also offers both pet and fishing features. Stumble across a fishing hole to snag a snack for your loyal pet and you never know, you might even pull-up something a little more valuable. Don’t have time to cash in your loot? Then you can even free up your inventory by sending your trusty pet to town to sell it for you!

Torchlight II can be played in both single player and multiplayer (with friends via the internet), but it’s not yet known whether the Switch version will support local multiplayer between consoles.

Perfect World Entertainment has also revealed that Panic Button will be handling the console ports of Torchlight II as a part of their multi-game partnership. The two companies have already collaborated to bring Hob: The Definitive Edition to Nintendo Switch – another title which was originally developed by Runic Games.

The upcoming port has been described as an “enhanced port”, although no further details were offered about what these “enhancements” would include. Torchlight II is set to release on consoles at some point in Autumn 2019 for a currently unspecified price.
