Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is now available to play on the Nintendo Switch. The Gwent-packed release saw a stealth-drop onto Nintendo’s eShop earlier today (28th January 2020). The Switch port of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is priced at £16.99 / €19,99 / $19.99 and available to download right now!
Set in the same universe as the main Witcher titles, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a single-player RPG that mixes isometric gameplay with resource management and (a slightly tweaked version of) the Gwent card game. Packing over 30 hours of content, Thronebreaker sees players explore and battle their way through five new regions, never before seen in the Witcher series – Aedirn, Angren, Lyria, Mahakam, and Rivia.
Just like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which released on Switch back in October 2019, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales also features a series of tough decisions and choices that will ultimately shift the game’s story in an alternate direction.
Despite being considered a Witcher spin-off, Thronebreaker generally received positive reviews when it released on other platforms in 2018 and has won numerous awards over the past two years. In addition to a 30 hour campaign, the game features over 250 single-player tailored cards, fully-voiced dialogue (in over 11 languages), 75 side-quests, and 20 possible world end-states. Not bad for a “spin-off” title.
