Capcom surprised fans of their zombie, survival horror series with the announcement that three classic Resident Evil games are being ported to Nintendo Switch. Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 4 are all set to be released on Nintendo’s hybrid console in 2019.

The three games will join Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2 (as well as Resident Evil 7: Cloud Edition in Japan) on the Switch.

Resident Evil was originally released on the PlayStation in 1996. It was later remade for the Nintendo GameCube and released alongside its prequel – Resident Evil 0 – in 2002. HD remasters of the GameCube versions we released on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC in 2015. It’s not yet clear which versions of the games Capcom plan to release for Nintendo Switch.

Resident Evil 4 also saw its roots on the Nintendo GameCube with a release in 2005. Since then, the game has seen a slew of re-releases and ports with the most recent being an HD remaster in 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One.

The news came from the official Capcom USA Twitter account and was a little light on details. The tweet did promise “more info soon” so expect to see more details and possibly a trailer in the coming days and weeks.
