The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening comes to Switch this September

Chase the Wind Fish this September!

Gameboy fans can finally return to Koholint Island when The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening comes to Nintendo Switch on September 20th 2019. Nintendo revealed the release date and gave fans a closer look at the highly anticipated re-imagining of the 1993 classic at their E3 2019 Nintendo Direct.

In addition to a release date, the presentation also showed off a brand-new feature called “Chamber Dungeons” which allows players to create their own challenging dungeons by arranging “Chambers,” which can be collected over the course of your adventure. Exploring these dungeons is unlimited and defeating your creations will earn you rewards like the Fairy Bottle showed off in the trailer.

Link’s Awakening super-fans can also snag a copy of the “Dreamer Edition” which comes with a 120-page artbook and a steelbook modelled after the original Gameboy for European players. Unfortunately, US gamers will only get the artbook in their special editions.

After the Direct, Nintendo also announced a new Link’s Awakening amiibo alongside the next batch of Super Smash Brothers Ultimate characters. The new Link will be launching day one alongside the game, but there’s been no confirmation that the figure will have any use in-game.

This was quite a Direct for Zelda fans! Alongside all of this Link’s Awakening news, Nintendo also confirmed Cadence of Hyrule will be launching later this week and gave us a first look at their sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Jump into one of the wackiest and most creative entries in Zelda’s storied history when The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening comes to Nintendo Switch on September 20th.
