Ruiner announced to blast onto Nintendo Switch

A release date isn't decided, but it will release in 2020.

Ruiner titleAnnounced on Twitter today, after much fan demand, studio Reikon Games will debut their cyberpunk shooter “SOON” on Nintendo Switch so says a binary encoded message. When asked the studio responded that “soon” means the top-down action game will release at some point later this year.

Ruiner is a cyberpunk experience made in the style of other cult cyberpunk works in games and anime. Reikon Games’ inspiration for Ruiner is the modern world, taking on classic cyberpunk tropes in a manner reflective of the future we live in today than a future far from now.

The gameplay focuses on top-down shooting, as the player travels through the metropolis of Rengkok. The masked protagonist, after having his head hacked by Heaven, a corporation in control of Rengkok, is saved by HER, who will help discover the truth of the city and rescue your brother.

Fighting through the streets of Rengkok, fans can expect to have to crack down on enemies from all directions. Utilizing the many weapons provided, players must, slice, smash, and burn those who stand in the way of saving their brother. The key to your successful survival and completion of your mission will be between these weapons in combination with abilities such as a Reflex Booster which slows time, and Ghost Break which makes enemies fight for you.

Publisher Devolver Digital originally released this title in September 2017 for other platforms, receiving generally positive critical reception. Many critics praised the title for its visuals and style, as well as its soundtrack.

Eager fans won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on Ruiner as it is set to release at some time in 2020. Those excited for this frenetic cyberpunk action title can find a trailer for the Steam version below.
