Two Pokémon Sword & Shield wireless Nintendo Switch controllers have been spotted on Amazon ahead of an official announcement. These affordable alternatives to Nintendo’s Pro Controller, are produced by accessory manufacture PowerA and officially licensed by Nintendo themselves.
The upcoming Sword & Shield designs feature all three Galar starter Pokémon and are set to come in two variations: a blue Pokémon Sword edition and a pink Pokémon Shield edition. Just like the rest of PowerA’s “Enhanced Wireless” Switch controllers, these feature Bluetooth 5.0, motion controls, and mappable ‘advanced gaming’ buttons alongside the standard button layout. PowerA promises 30 hours of gameplay from two AA batteries and even includes a pair in the box.
News of the upcoming Pokémon Sword & Shield controllers comes shortly after PowerA’s Overwatch-themed “Reaper” controller was discovered on the Amazon US website. So it’s not unlikely that PowerA will continue this trend for future Nintendo Switch titles.
As these controllers have been discovered before an official announcement, we have no information regarding a release date. However, it seems likely that these controllers could launch alongside Pokémon Sword & Shield on November 15th 2019. Whilst there is currently no official word on price, previous designs of the Enhanced Wireless Switch Controllers have retailed at around £39.99.
