Jupiter has announced that third game in the Picross S series, Picross S3, will be launching for Nintendo Switch on April 25th 2019! Priced at £8.99 / €9,99 / $9.99, Picross S3 and will be available as a digital-only download via the Nintendo Switch eShop.
Picross is a puzzle game in which players are tasked with filling in squares with colours (usually black and white) depending on given hints to reveal hidden illustrations. The latest instalment, Picross S3, offers brand new modes such as “Colour Picross” which tasks you with filling in the squares on a given puzzle with the same colour as the listed hint numbers. Picross S3’s Colour mode also allows players to switch colours through four different means of input:
- “Simple mode” will change the colour using just one button,
- “Choice mode” will allow the player to select a colour from a palette,
- “Slide mode” will allow the player to select their colour via the L and R buttons,
- “Direct mode” allows the player to assign a colour to a specific button.
Other new functions in Picross S3 include a preview screen and new multiplayer markings. Players can preview puzzles before playing them to get an idea of what they’ll be getting themselves into! Also, although a minor change, multiplayer markings are different in Picross S3. Previously, squares filled in by player 1 were marked blue and red for player 2. These squares are now marked by blue and red coloured triangles which can also be disabled via a button press.
Picross S3 also provides players with tutorials to help them get used to the game’s mechanics, so newcomers need not worry.
