Physical Switch release of Wolfenstein Youngblood might be a code in a case

US retailer listings suggest Youngblood for Switch won't be on cart.
Wolfenstein Youngblood Physical Switch Releases

The Nintendo Switch physical editions of Wolfenstein Youngblood might not come with a physical cartridge. According to various retailer listings in the US, the case will instead contain a download code.

Physical game collectors proceed with caution, as Wolfenstein Youngblood’s Switch release might not be all that it seems. Notices have appeared on the Amazon US pre-order pages for both the Standard and Deluxe Editions of the game, indicating that the physical releases will simply be a download code in a case. Listed as the final bullet point in the product description comes the follows sentence:

Contains digital download code. No cartridge included

While not official confirmation, Amazon’s wording certainly doesn’t bode well for those hoping for a copy of the game on cart. Physical Nintendo Switch releases that require a download are usually required to display a notice on the top of the box-art. However, the current listings do not appear to feature anything of the sort.

It is possible that the listing is incorrect and there has been some sort of mix-up due to the inclusion of a “Buddy Pass”. However, US retailer GameStop also seems to be backing-up the no cartridge claims, making the likelihood of a “case and code” situation seem more feasible.

It’s currently unclear if the European release of Youngblood’s Deluxe Edition will also lack a physical cartridge, or if the US retailer statements are even correct. We’ve reached out to Bethesda for clarification on whether or not a physical cartridge will be provided and will update readers as soon as we get a response.
