Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo has finally announced a start date for their paid online subscription service. Nintendo Switch Online is officially set to launch next week, on September 19th 2018 (or the 18th if you’re based in North America).

After 18+ months of free online play, Nintendo will finally start charging it’s users for Nintendo Switch online services. This shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise, considering plans for a paid online services were announced way back in January 2017. Priced at $19.99 / £17.99 / €19.99 for 12 months, Nintendo Switch Online will includes access to online play, a library of 20 classic NES games (with added online features), cloud backups for save data, exclusive eShop offers, and everyone’s favourite dedicated Nintendo Online phone app (for voice chat and enhanced online features).

Nintendo has been light on details up until now but promises more information will be shared during the upcoming Nintendo Direct, which has recently been rescheduled and is now set to air the 13th September at 11pm BST. Nintendo is still yet to reveal the final 10 NES games that will be available to play at launch and the official website still states that further details about exclusive member offers will be announced soon.

If an 18-month free trial hasn’t been enough for you, a more fully featured 7-day trial will be available at launch. You will be able to sign up to this week-long trial via the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Tune in to the Nintendo Direct tomorrow for all the details straight from Nintendo.
