Pokemon Sword and Shield Trailer

A brand new ad trailer promoting the upcoming release of Pokémon Sword and Shield has been released by Nintendo. Titled “A new era of Pokémon begins”, the new video showcases a number of Pokémon previously not known to be in the games.

Kicking off with Pikachu and Haunter’s classic Gen 1 sprites, the latest trailer cycles through past Pokémon releases, showing various Pokémon as they traverse through different landscapes. Between each generation, a quick snippet of players opening up past Nintendo handhelds can be seen. Then, as everything begins to come together, the players hold up their devices, transforming each one into a Nintendo Switch and the gathering Pokémon into their latest renders.

Thanks to a living list of the Galar Pokédex, curated by Serebii, the trailer seemingly verifies an additional 16 past-gen Pokémon will be making their way Sword and Shield. In no particular order, the newly spotted Pokémon are:

  • Shuckle
  • Remoraid
  • Octillery
  • Seedot
  • Nuzleaf
  • Shiftry
  • Torkoal
  • Skorupi
  • Drapion
  • Munna
  • Musharna
  • Scraggy
  • Scrafty
  • Pawniard
  • Bisharp
  • Pyukumuku
