Following the mysterious appearance of an unknown Ditto transformation in Pokémon GO last weekend, it’s finally been announced that a brand new Pokémon known as “Meltan” will be available in Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee!
While Meltan showing up unannounced may have left some Pokémon GO player confused, it turns out Professor Oak had the answers all along. Our strange nut-headed friend is actually a previously undiscovered mythical Pokémon.

Although the promotional video doesn’t go much further with details, The Pokémon Company has thankfully released a heap of information about the new discovery.
Meltan is a steel-type Pokémon that generates electricity by absorbing metals into its liquid body. Its arms and legs are used to corrode environmental metals, leaving its eye free to fire attacks with the electricity it creates. Weighing in at 17.6 lbs and reaching a height of 8 inches, Meltan falls into the new category of “Hex Nut Pokémon”.
Although Meltan will be available in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!, details on how to capture it are yet to be revealed. However, it does seem as though the smartphone game Pokémon GO will play an important role.
