Kero Blaster, the latest title from Cave Story creator Daisuke “Pixel” Amaya, will be getting a Nintendo Switch release on August 23rd 2018. Announced by publisher PLAYISM, the pixel-packed platformer will be available digitally for $9.99 in North America, with European pricing still to be announced.

Kero Blaster Nintendo SwitchIn Kero Blaster, players take control of an employee frog working for the mysterious start-up company “Cat & Frog Inc”. His job? Custodial Sciences of course. Equipped with the traditional blaster, you’ll be thrown into a side-scrolling pixel-based world filled with weapons, enemies, and co-workers.

At the beginning of the game, you’ll be packing a fairly weak weapon and only have a slither of health. However, by collecting coins throughout the game, you’ll be able to save up enough to nip to the in-game stores and purchase some much-needed upgrades. Death in Kero Blaster isn’t permanent, instead you’re sent you back to the beginning of the stage (after a short trip to the hospital).

The Nintendo Switch port of Kero Blaster will include  “Zangyou mode” (that’s the Japanese word for Overtime/Overwork) which was added to the PC version in 2015 and brings additional stages to the game.

Kero Blaster will be available to pre-purchase from the Nintendo eShop today in North America and on August 16th 2018 in Europe.
