HORI are releasing a Pikachu themed left Nintendo Switch “D-Pad” Joy-Con

HORI's Joy-Con alternative now comes in a Pikachu Edition!

HORI will be releasing a brand new Pikachu themed D-Pad controller, just in time for the launch of Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu and Eevee! The new Joy-Con style controller is due to hit shelves on November 16th, 2018.

It was only last week when HORI announced their new line of Pokémon themed Nintendo Switch accessories, but it appears that they held back on a new arrival. The Pikachu D-Pad controller, which has seemly appeared out of nowhere, now joins the ranks of HORI’s Zelda and Mario themed alternative left Joy-Cons.

Officially licensed by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, the new controller features a black body finished with a lighting yellow Pikachu design.

As with previous HORI Joy-Con alternatives, the Pikachu D-Pad controller comes equipped with a proper D-pad in place of the four circular buttons. However, the trade-off is that the HORI model is designed specifically for handheld use only – completely lacking any wireless functionality, HD-Rumble, or motion controls. Although, as it’s design to always be attached to the console, motion controls will still work as expected thanks to the Switch’s built-in accelerometer and gyroscope.

Retailing for around $24.99 / £24.99, the Pikachu HORI Nintendo Switch D-Pad Controller is set to release on November 16th 2018, the same day as Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee! It’s currently not known whether HORI will also release an Eevee model to match the upcoming dual-title release.
