Later today, on July 30th 2019, DLC fighter “Hero” from the Dragon Quest series will officially arrive as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Originally announced during Nintendo’s E3 2019 Direct, Hero is the classic RPG series’ first representative in the Super Smash Bros. franchise.
Set to arrive in the “Challenger Pack 2” DLC, Hero will also bring with him a brand new Dragon Quest stage (Yggdrasil’s Altar) and six songs from the series. The Hero fighter has the option of sporting one of four different skins based on his appearances in Dragon Quest XI S, Dragon Quest III, Dragon Quest IV, and Dragon Quest VIII.
Hero aside, Nintendo have also announced that the version 4.0 update to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will also launch today. The latest update brings with it a long-awaited tournament mode, a new “Very Easy” difficulty setting for World of Light, and a time limit for those players using the game’s metered final smash settings. Anyone taking advantage of the game’s spectator mode will now be able to wager on which player they believe will win in exchange for points.
Players who haven’t purchased Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Fighters Pass can get hold of Hero by purchasing the DLC pack separately for £5.39 / €5,99 / $5.99. Those who have already invested in Fighter Pass will also be able to download the latest DLC as soon as it becomes available later today. If you’re looking to pick up the Fighter Pass, the current cost is around £22.49 / €24,99 / $24.99 and includes Persona 5’s Joker DLC (released on April 17) as well as Rare’s 3D platforming mascot Banjo & Kazooie, to be released this Autumn.
