Blizzard has unveiled an exclusive Diablo III amiibo ahead of the game’s Switch release at BlizzCon 2018 tomorrow. The Loot Goblin amiibo will be available for purchase later this year in December, but a release day and price have not yet been announced.
The Loot Goblin doesn’t come in the usual amiibo box and is, of course, only usable with the Nintendo Switch version of Diablo III. What the amiibo does in-game is currently under wraps, but data miners on Reddit were able to uncover some information earlier this week.
According to the data miners, Diablo on Switch will support three types of amiibo: default/generic, “Treasure Goblin” and “Demon”. If these leaks are correct, the Treasue Goblin spawns a portal to another location that seems to be what the “summon your own portal to untold riches” in the announcement tweet refers to. The Demon allegedly spawns a powerful demon on to the map.
We’ll have to wait for more official information on the Loot Goblin, but considering there’s a “Diablo: What’s Next” presentation scheduled at BlizzCon tomorrow, that info may come soon rather than later.
Diablo III: Eternal Collection is available tomorrow, November 2nd, 2018 on Nintendo Switch.
