The popular RPG Undertale has finally gotten its release date and will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch on September 18th, 2018.
Undertale is the brainchild of developer Toby Fox and has become somewhat of a cult classic since its initial release on PC in 2015. The game has a unique visual style and uses an old-school top-down perspective, drawing inspiration from retro RPGs like Mother.
In the game, you play a child that mistakenly falls into an underground world filled with monsters. You’ll need to navigate through the world, uncovering a unique, dark and humorous adventure along the way.
Like the games it was inspired by, Undertale features a turn-based battle system (with some traditional bullet-hell mechanics thrown in), but puts its own unique spin on it. Players can opt to avoid violence in every encounter by negotiating their way out of danger.

Undertale joins an indie-packed September with games like Hyper Light Drifter, Bastion and Towerfall also available in the upcoming month. The game will be available for download from the Switch eShop in Europe and North America on September 18th, 2018 for $14.99. Players in North America are able to pre-purchase the game now with the pre-order page going up in Europe next week.
Alongside the digital release, Undertale is seeing a physical release and collector’s edition from Fangamer. The standard cart is available for $29 directly from Fangamer or Best Buy in North America with the collector’s Edition retailing at $69. Both releases include an illustrated storybook and fans can expect the soundtrack, a sheet music book and a gold-plated music box locket included in the collector’s edition.
