Polish publisher Art Games Studio S.A revealed this week that their mountain climbing simulation and survival game Climber: Sky is the Limit will be coming to Nintendo Switch. Although a Switch release date is yet to be announced, the game will initially launch on PC during the first half of 2021, so can be expected to reach consoles at a later date.

Climber: Sky is the Limit simulates the climbing and expedition of some of the world’s highest and most dangerous mountain peaks, including Everest, Broad Peak and K2. Offering a first-person perspective, the developer’s focus on realism means that every ascent can be heavily impacted by the elements and the physical environment. Each level, or peak, differs in difficulty and presents specific challenges (such as avalanches, steep cliffs and unexpected weather changes) that must be overcome using the right specialised equipment.

During a climb, players must also manage their strength recovery, nutrition and body temperature which adds interesting survival elements of gameplay. Some of which are often seen in the simulation genre. The game not only covers the climb itself but the whole planning process as well, including the financial and resource management aspects of fundraising and purchasing the necessary food and equipment to complete a climb safely.

Climber: Sky is the Limit is set to launch on PC in 2021, with The Nintendo Switch and other consoles ports landing sometime afterwards. A fixed release date and costs are yet to be confirmed, but you can check out the game’s (PC) trailer below to see it in action.
