The long-awaited remaster of the Xbox 360 Arcade classic “Castle Crashers” has finally secured a Nintendo Switch release date! Set to launch on September 17th 2019, Castle Crashers Remastered will be available to purchase from the Nintendo eShop for $14.99.

This multiplayer Beat ’em up lets up to 4 players fight their way through each level, smashing through enemies and bosses alike, all to save 4 princesses and recover a magical gem.

Castle Crashers Remastered features hand-drawn artwork, 31 playable heroes, plus a whole heap of wacky and gorgeously animated bosses. Even 11 years on, developer The Behemoth’s signature flash game style artwork holds up well.

This remastered version of the game includes:

  • All previously released DLC available to unlock for free.
  • A new mini-game titled “Back Off Barbarian”.
  • Higher quality textures & 60 FPS gameplay.
  • Performance updates, gameplay improvements and smoother online multiplayer.
  • The Switch version also supports HD rumble and support for any Joy-Con configuration.

The PS4 port is also still planned, but as the game has not had final approval yet there is currently no concrete PS4 release date. The Behemoth has said that the PS4 version could still launch alongside the Nintendo Switch, but they have no way to confirm just yet. The PS4 version is said to feature support for DualShock 4’s lightbars, signalling which of the game’s characters you are currently playing
