Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night director Koji Igarashi has posted an update on Kickstarter today, sharing the news that the game’s release date has been officially delayed into 2019.

Originally scheduled for release in 2018 (after raising over $5.5 million from backers), the games release date has since shifted to 2019 in order to allow the developers to “Raise the quality level” – referencing feedback from a recent Beta Backer Demo as the catalyst.

Roberto Piraino, Global Brand Manager at 505 Games adds the following:

Hey everyone, we’re sorry to make you wait a little longer for Bloodstained, but you can trust that this really is in the best interest of the game – and our players. We assure you we’re using the extra time to make Bloodstained even better, based on your input.

The Kickstarter update also announced that 505 games are ceasing work on the PS Vita version of the game due to plans by Sony to discontinue their handheld console. This will leave the Nintendo Switch release of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night as the only portable version of the game.
