CrossCode coming to Nintendo Switch on July 9th

The long-awaited pixel-art sci-fi adventure is finally given a console release date

After an initial announcement that CrossCode was headed to Nintendo Switch back in January 2019, a date for the game’s launch on consoles has finally been revealed. CrossCode will be available on the Nintendo Switch on July 9th!

The game, which launched on PC back in September 2018, is a retro-inspired 2D action RPG that follows Lea, a player of a fictional MMO called CrossWorld. Drawing inspiration from JRPGs and Zelda games, CrossCode boasts an exciting pixel-art sci-fi world full of dungeons, puzzles, and fast-paced battles.

CrossCode is unique in that its story follows a protagonist playing an MMO whose memories in-game are disconnected from her real-life counterpart’s. This allows the game to have fourth-wall breaking humour that pokes fun at the MMO genre as well as overcoming the repetitive nature of many MMOs.

The game is set to have a huge amount of content with 7 unique areas of the map, 7 expansive dungeons to explore, over 120 enemy types, 30 boss fights, and over 100 quests to complete. Completing the main story alone is expected to take at least 30 hours of gameplay!

The announcement was also followed by the reveal of a physical edition of the game, including a Collector’s Edition from Strictly Limited Games that is limited to just 2000 copies worldwide. The Collector’s Edition includes:

  • CrossCode with reversible cover (NSW)
  • SteelBook®
  • Hardcover CE Box with magnetic lock
  • Original 2-Disc Soundtrack composed by Deniz Akbulut
  • Hardcover CrossCode Compendium
  • 18 Stickers
  • Large Poster
  • Lea ‘Hi’ Keychain

The digital edition of CrossCode is not yet available to preorder from the Nintendo eShop but is listed for £17.99 / €19,99. A listing for the game on the US eShop has not yet been made, so hold tight for that. Until then, check out the game’s announcement trailer below!
